Wayanad Tourism Organization (WTO) in association with Kerala Tourism is organizing the Fourth edition of SPLASH, Wayanad Monsoon Fest, between 12th -15th July 2012.
WTO organize travel arrangements from Calicut (Kozhikode) to Wayanad, Accommodation, various sightseeing in Wayanad and visits to various Hotels/ Resorts/Home Stays etc.
A general outline of the Programme will be as follows:
12th July 2012: Arrival of Delegates at Calicut (Kozhikode), Transfer to Wayanad, Check in to respective Hotel/Resort. Overnight Stay.
13th July 2012: Splash Outdoor Activities, Adventure Sports, Games like mud Football,Country Rafting, River Crossing etc., Transfer to the venue for Tourism Seminar and Cultural Show. Back to Hotel/Resort.Overnight Stay.
14th July 2012: Transfer to the venue for B2B Meet. Back to Hotel/Resort. Transfer to the Venue for Cultural Show. Back to Hotel/Resort. Overnight Stay.
15th July 2012: Visit to various member properties of interest. Afternoon departure.

Hotel Mint Flower was bang on the NH 212. It was very convenient for one to halt but I did not choose the hotel for that reason. I chose it from the good reviews of the travellers who have stayed there. I must say I am satisfied. The reviews were true. We stayed in a Superior room which was portrayed exactly as in the brochure. Even though our room was facing the Nh, there was absolutely no sound. The bedroom was spacious enough for two adults and a child. The room was tastefully decorated with shimmering white curtains and a small cubicle fully covered with glass for an easy sit out with a cup of coffee. The bathroom was clean with modern amenities and hot water running throughout. The rooms were nicely ventillated too. The luggage compartment too was out of the way nicely fitted to the side. The food would be served in the room or in the restaurant which is fine by my standards. The ladies in the restaurant had to wear a headress for no hairy incidents. The food is good. Tourist from outside should taste the food prepared in Kerala that is typical to the state. The food prepared in this northern part has a distinctive flavour than the south. Try the Appam and Egg Curry as an example. Our Superior room booking had a Complimentry Breakfast. Even that had a lot of choices. The hotel has a bakery attached named as Mathias Bakery. You can carry the Calicut Halwa from here. They also have the Pineapple flavour. The Ooty choclates can also be procured from here in different varieties. All the staff members were very couteous. Happy stay if you choose this one.

FLORA & FAUNA
The Flora Of Wayanad Are Characteristic Of The Western Ghats And The Plantation Crops Grown In The Cool Climate. A Major Portion Of The District Is Covered By Coffee. Trees Of The Wild Type Like Rose-Wood, Anjili (Artocarpus), Mullumurikku (Erthrina), Several Species Of Caussia And Many Other Non-Descrip Varieties Are Still Preserved Here And There, To Give Shade To The Coffee Plants. These Trees Give A Dembalance Of Wilderness To The Landscape Of Wayanad. In A Majority Of Coffee Plantations, The Age-Old Species Are Replaced By The Silver-Oak Which Is Suited To The Cold Climate. This Tree Grows Quickly And Its Cultivation Is Widespread Among Coffee Plantations For Shade And For Giving Support To Pepper. It Is Used For The Plywood Industry AndThus Is Economical To The Farmers. Eucalyptus Grandis, A Shorter Variety Of Eucalyptus, Whose Fragrant Smell Suffuses The Very Air Around It, Is Cultivated On A Large Scale In Centain Parts Of The District. Eucalyptus Oil Is Extracted On Commercial Basis From Its Leaves. Of The 20,864 Hectares Of Reserve Forest, The Major Portion Is Teak Plantation. Arecanut Palms And Jack Trees Are Also Grown Here. Tea Is Grown As An Industry In Large Estates. The Soil And Climate Of Wayanad Are Suitable For Horiculture On Commercial Basis. For Promoting The Cultivation Of Vegetables And Raising Of Orchards, The Kerala Agricultural University Is Running A Regional Agricultural Research Station At Ambalavayal. With The Clearing Of Forests, The Diverse And Buzzling Animal Life, Characteristic Of The Forests Of Western Ghats, Has Vanished From Wayanad. One Can Still See The Bonnet Monkeys, Loris, Mongooses, Jungle Cats, Squirrels, Jackals, Hares, Etc. In The Limited Forest Areas. Elephant, Bear And Other Wild Animals From The Neighbouring Wild Life Sanctuaries Of Karnadaka And Tamil Nadu, Stray Into The Begur Forest Range And The Forests Around Muthanga, Which Is 20 Kilometres Away From The Town Of Sulthan Bathery

Birds underworld
After the 7km trek through thick forest commencing at Thirunelli, we will reach Pakshipathalam,the birds underworld located deep within the forest in the Brahmagiri hills (1700 metres altitude).The distinctive species of plants ,animals and wide variety of bird are living here in the deep cave as a ‘family’.The ‘underworld’ is protected with large boulders.

Sentinel Rock Falls
Sentinel Rock Waterfalls also known as Soochipara Falls is a spectacular three-tiered waterfalls in Vellarimala, Wayanad, surrounded by Deciduous, Wet Evergreen and Tropical Montane forests. It is the most attractive falls among all major waterfalls in the region. The falls is about 200m in height.

Pallikkunnu Church
Pallikkunnu Church is a famous pilgrim centre of North Kerala. This is a Latin Catholic church in the name of Our Lady of Lourdes.
